'Out of the Shadows' started with a daydream— one I imagine every girl has had: Who am I? Who do I want to become? How will I be remembered? These are daunting questions for any person, let alone a shy teenage girl who is naturally predisposed to listen rather than talk.
My first conversation was more like catching up with an Auntie. Here was an incredible woman who was raising four kids in New York City, all while starting her own hedge fund in one of the most male-dominated cities and industries in the world. I was hooked.
I snapped a few pictures, took a few notes, and that’s how Out of the Shadows began.
Through these chronicles, I follow
the inspiring journeys of women
who built their own paths when few role models existed. Each portrait combines storytelling through photographs and prose, revealing both
thevisible and the veiled.
The images invite us to look more closely while the words remind us that shadows often speak as powerfully as light.
Some stories may echo your own; others may not, but each casts a light forward
